I just wanted to say that some of my experiences shopping here have been average, but others have been exceptional. I wanted to give praise where it is deserved and I feel like there was one employee who worked behind the ski desk, Jerome, who went above and beyond his role as an employee to make sure we received excellent customer service. We came in interested in renting skis and he took time with us, explained our rental options and helped us make a plan for our kids for the next ski year. I was very happy with the outcome. He was enthusiastic and seemed genuinely interested in giving us a great customer experience. We were able to purchase a set of skis that were formerly rental skis for one of our boys, only used for 2 years in great shape for around $70. We then were able to rent for our other two kids, gear that had only been used for one year for $89 for the whole season. The prices were a lot better than when we rented at Sundance. I came back in the store a couple of times afterwards as we first talked the end of April and one time Jerome saw me around September sometimes and came over to make sure I knew that the rental skis were now in stock and available (we had spoken about it at the end of the season the previous year and he wanted to make sure I didn't miss out as there was limited stock). I appreciated so much the excellent customer care we received from Jerome at Sports Authority. This made us loyal customers of Sports Authority and have since come it to purchase other items like kayaks, exercise clothes, etc. All of this thanks to one outstanding employee.

I don't always take the time to write reviews but Manager Travis deserves being recognized! Talk about a super nice guy.

In the short amount of time he spent helping me pick out some shoes for my kids in different sports, I could tell he understood multiple sports needs, mom's and their budgets, and was great with the employees that had questions for him while I was taking all his time.

It's not always that you get a manager to personally walk you through the store and listen then explain in detail what he thought my best options were.

Also I drove from Salt Lake County to this store because I researched online before finding out that Orem carries the best selection of cleats for shoe sizes 6-9.5.

So here's a shout out for Manager Travis and who ever stocks their shoes- maybe that's Travis too 🙂

This is the first negative review I have ever written but I feel kind of obligated to do so. Absolutely terrible management and customer service. I have shopped at this location for the past 10 years and do everything I can to avoid it now. Lines are needlessly long, employees are rude and very difficult to work with, and it is impossible to find someone if you have questions. On a number of occasions I have spoken with managers as well as store employees and found them just as unlikely to assist customers. Here are a few examples:

1) More then once I have gone up to purchase my item and have found a line of 3-5 people waiting with one cashier working and another two standing behind the counter talking acting busy. Usually the customers are looking at each other like "are you serious!" It took 10 mins and a line of 7 customers before one of the ladies behind the counter decided to open up her register.

2) Having questions about the pricing on some ski gear I looked for a store employee for 15 mins before I walked all the way to the front of the store and asked a cashier if there was someone I could talk to. They called someone over their radio to go back to the ski/snowboarding gear. I waited for ten minutes and then had to go and ask the cashier again. 5 mins later they showed up and were very uninterested in helping customers.

3) At another time I went to purchase some gym shorts. I went to try them on and found the dressing rooms were all locked. The cashier had a line of 4 customers so I went and looked around the store for 15 mins trying to find another employee to unlock them. I couldn't find anyone. I went and waited for the cashier to finish helping the current customer and asked if they had a key or something. They called on their radio for someone to come help, 10 mins later I had to go and ask again, 5 mins later someone showed up. I asked why it was so difficult to find people in the store and the person gave a very short and cold apology and then walked away.

Unfortunately Sports Authority has some of the best gear and products in the area. I have bought apparel and gift cards family and employees in the past. I would now rather drive to Salt Lake or any other store in order to avoid shopping here.

I planned to take my kids skiing on Saturday night and needed ski rentals for them. Last time I rented them right at Sundance. The place was a mad house so I thought I would try Sports Authority this time and avoid the crowds.
I got to Sports Authority and there was no other customers at the ski rental counter, so I got lucky, or so I thought. I stood back and watched 3 associates fumble around trying to size and set skis for my three kids. I kid you not, the whole process took almost an hour. The best part, when I checked out I was charged $15 for one child's rental and $20 a piece for the other two. When I asked why, they said they were charged as Adults because of their boot size.
So let's compare Sports Authority to just renting at Sundance Resort:
Sundance: $12 per kid, $39 out the door, 30 minute process
Sports Authority: $12 for one kid, $20 for others, $59 out the door, 50 minute process
I paid a 52% premium for the pleasure of spending 66% more time.
So they deserve one star which equals "Hated it" I was stupid to shop at Sports Authority

I've purchased clothing, equipment and shoes for almost every sport in every season including figure skating, skiing, soccer, baseball, tennis, running, golf and yoga. Horrible customer service!
After standing by the service counter for ten minutes I learned that Sports Authority is a big store that doesn't care about customers. While I was standing at the counter waiting one employee (Curtis) passed me TWICE and another was helping with ski boots and looked at me TWICE. Neither of them acknowledged my presence! Nobody said, "I'll be right with you" or "Do you need your snowboard serviced?"
Finally I walked away, and I explained my situation. He replied that we worked in the service department and decided to give me sass by saying, "I'm sorry you're not the only one getting something tonight." I'll take my business elsewhere thank you very much!

This store restrings tennis racquets. All I had to do was buy the strings for 20 dollars and change. The restring guy comes in on Tuesday and Thursday to do all the racquets that have accumulated up to that point.

Seems like anything I need for a sport they have and an OK selection of camping stuff. The only place I could find a light up Frisbee!
