My son had to buy a hockey stick urgently and they were able to help me over the phone to put one aside for him. However less than a month later the stick broke and when I called to tell them they told me I need to deal with the manufacturer directly. They didn't even guide me to how to do so. I have since found out that Pure Hockey in West Hartford handles it themselves. When you brake a stick you need a replacement right away. If it's under warranty, and I can save 400$ I will do that. From now on because of this policy I will only buy sticks at pure hockey where I can get a replacement on the spot upon returning the under warranty broken stick.

These guys will go out of their way to make you feel welcome and work with your budget. Honest, knowledgeable, with very fair prices and LOTS of options for gear and team apparel.
This has got to be the best hockey shop around.

Moved back to the area after many years happy to see both Hamden and Cheshire sport up and running. Visited the Hamden location and still hands down the best local shop around. I try as hard as I can to not shop at the big box hockey stores. You should by hockey stuff local in my eyes, if you can of course.

You'll get a better fit, better cut, and better service from these Ladies & Gents than any of the "bigger" stores. Even though the drive is ~40 min from my house I will be making the trip there for them to sharpen my sets of steel.

This is the epitome of what a hockey shop should be. A literal barn (renovated, of course), great service, amazing knowledge and everything you need.

Really hard to get anyone's attention in there. Some lady was in there with her family and was taking up the whole day. Like bridal shopping. Another 2 kids in there that seemed to just walk around, customers. None of the workers acknowledge you. I just walked out.

Flag Football

I recently went to this store looking to purchase Goalie equipment for the first time. I was greeted at the door and offered assistance.

A gentlemen by the name of Chuck helped me through every step, he spent almost 2 and a half hours answering any questions and was completely on the same page as me. I told him I wanted to spend as little as possible as long as the protection was good and he NOT ONCE tried to up sell me. It's nice to have someone listen when you tell them you don't want to break the bank as a first time player.

All in all I would recommend going here any day of the week, as Chuck also helped my brother out and not once showing any level of frustration when I asked many dumb questions.

10/10 would goalie again.

Just went for a skate sharpening while in the area for a tourney. Great shop! May go back today to make some purchases. This shop had a different room for almost every item, and a consignment or used skates area that was open to customers! Also had a stick in the desired curve, an item that's difficult to find back home. I highly recommend a visit!

Went in for used equipment, getting back on the ice for an adult clinic after 25 years and could not be happier with my experience at Hamden sports. Awesome physical shop, tons of great equipment, good used inventory. I went on a busy Saturday, roamed a bit with my 6 year old, was asked if a needed help but I declined preferring to browse on my own. Once I found what I thought I wanted the staff took the time to make sure the fit was good. Then took me around the store answering some questions to make sure I was all set. All in all a great experience I will certainly be back.

Nice store but they couldn't sharpen a pencil. Had my goalie skates sharpened, got home to check them and noticed they seemed off. Took them back, manager said they were fine and re-sharened while telling me all about how they were fine and I didn't know how to check them. Still didn't look right and sure enough, I step on the ice that night and no inside edge on my skate playing net, could barely skate without slipping out. Took the skate to the rink pro-shop and they see the edge has been ground off and sharpened correctly.

I have had my skates done by Hamden in the past and its usually been hit or miss but this was the worst
